You never know what will happen to you in your life. I spent this last weekend in Cleveland Ohio at the Midwest Regional Gala Gala Days. It included Shriners and Daughters from the states of Ohio, Indiana, Illinois, and Wisconsin.
From Friday evening thru Sunday morning opened the Courts and Temples, learned about healthy eating, the importance of exercising and stress management.
It was good to see old friends and to meet new ones as we went through the weekend. Hospitality on Friday and Saturday nights kept us partying.
I arrived home Sunday afternoon about 12:30. It was a beautiful sunny day so after unpacking I decided to get some fresh air. I spent about an hour on the front porch. This time of the year my huge oak tree provides privacy from the street. It’s huge branches give me great privacy.
I then decided to sit in my backyard and chill. After an hour and a half I thought oops I need to go in and get my blog completed.
As I made my way toward the house, I stepped into a hidden hole beneath the grass. I fell to the ground and immediately noticed my left ankle bone was protruding. I was able to turn my ankle to the left and it went back into place. Problem was it would plop back out.
Not able to walk on it I was sliding on my butt towards the house. I live next door to a church and the Pastor and First Lady were coming out. They spotted me and was going to assist me to the house until they saw the ankle.
Despite my saying I had called my Daughter and she was on the way, they called 911. I was not happy with that decision because the ambulance companies charge a ridiculous rate for transporting.
Thank God my daughter arrived at the same time as the ambulance. I quickly told them I would not be utilizing their services and my daughter would take me to the hospital.
I haven’t been to an ER in a long time but I always make it a point to let them know I am a retired RN. It’s amazing how you get treated versus other patients.
I was triaged and X-rayed quickly, only to find out zI had a dislocated ankle and a broken fibula. I was totally surprised at the fibula because I had no pain in that area.
Long story short I am being admitted to the hospital for surgery on my fibula. Oh no say it isn’t so, but alas it is and I am awaiting transfer to a unit for hospitalization and surgery.
I was supposed to go back to Cleveland for a friend’s Birthday party but was wore out from the weekend.
Such is life, full of surprises, ups and downs. Shit happens and then you die! Thank God I am in excellent heath and all should go well.
Keep me in your prayers
Until next time
Peace, Love, and Blessings ❤️
