I saw this recipe on TikTok and knew I had to try it. It’s called cabbage boil because you use the same seasonings you would use in a seafood boil. There are no set amounts of seasonings; use as much as you like. I have listed all the seasonings I used.
Cook time: 2-3 hours, depending on the size of cabbage.
INGREDIENTS
- 1 head of cabbage
- Old Bay
- Lemon pepper
- Onion powder
- Garlic powder
- Paprika
- Salt
- Slap Ya Mama Cajun seasoning or Tony Chachere’s Creole seasoning
- Kosher salt
- Fresh ground black pepper
- Butter
- Olive oil
DIRECTIONS
- Cut off the bottom of the cabbage
- Peel off the outer leaves
- Use a sharp knife and cut around the core to remove it. Using the knife, poke some holes on top and inside the cabbage
- Rub the cabbage inside and out with the olive oil
- Add seasonings inside and out, and sprinkle paprika inside and all over the outside of the cabbage
- Tuck butter in the cored area
- Wrap with aluminum foil, bake at 350°F
- Halfway through the bake time, remove the cabbage from the oven and add a small amount of water to help tenderize. Rewrap and continue baking.
- Remove the cabbage from the oven and pour the juices collected in the foil over the cabbage
