I saw this recipe on TikTok and knew I had to try it. It’s called cabbage boil because you use the same seasonings you would use in a seafood boil. There are no set amounts of seasonings; use as much as you like. I have listed all the seasonings I used.

Cook time: 2-3 hours, depending on the size of cabbage.

INGREDIENTS

  • 1 head of cabbage
  • Old Bay
  • Lemon pepper
  • Onion powder
  • Garlic powder
  • Paprika
  • Salt
  • Slap Ya Mama Cajun seasoning or Tony Chachere’s Creole seasoning
  • Kosher salt
  • Fresh ground black pepper
  • Butter
  • Olive oil

DIRECTIONS

  1. Cut off the bottom of the cabbage
  2. Peel off the outer leaves
  3. Use a sharp knife and cut around the core to remove it. Using the knife, poke some holes on top and inside the cabbage
  4. Rub the cabbage inside and out with the olive oil
  5. Add seasonings inside and out, and sprinkle paprika inside and all over the outside of the cabbage
  6. Tuck butter in the cored area
  7. Wrap with aluminum foil, bake at 350°F
  8. Halfway through the bake time, remove the cabbage from the oven and add a small amount of water to help tenderize. Rewrap and continue baking.
  9. Remove the cabbage from the oven and pour the juices collected in the foil over the cabbage
