What is detox water ? Detox water is plain water mixed with natural ingredients that assist in cleansing your body. When you make detox water you can use regular water or bubbly mineral water. I use Crystal Geyser spring water. Available at Walmart for ninety five cents a galloon.
Adding fresh fruits, vegetables, herbs and spices to your water enhances the taste and is healthier. The fresh fruit and herbs release their benefits into the water to boost antioxidants, debloating and flush fat.
Detox water helps to:
- Keep you full
- Helps you stay away from sugary drinks and soda
- Fights cravings
- Helps rid your body of toxins
You can make your water the night before and refrigerate it. You can use your water bottle, glass pitcher or my favorite a mason jar. As well you can refill your bottle throughout the day. When using a mason jar place a piece of wax paper between the jar and lid to keep the air out.
Heads up , when you use fresh herbs, such as basil, and mint, place the leaves between your palms and give it a smash. This releases their full flavor.
You can freeze your fruit, I usually freeze berries, melon and pineapple. To do so rinse your berries and dry on a paper towel. Line a cookie sheet with wax paper and place fruit in a single layer. Place in freezer 15-30 minutes and transfer to ziplock bags. I put about a half cup fruit in each bag. Cut up the melon into small pieces and use the same process. I fill the bag with melon.

Remember to use cinnamon sticks and ginger root when making your water. As far as quantities use a handful of herbs and one whole fruit with the exception of melons. If using berries use one half cup.
