This dish can be pan-seared, grilled, baked, or fried. I chose the pan-sear method. It’s quick and easy to prepare for a main course or an appetizer.

INGREDIENTS

  • 1-pound uncooked shrimp, peeled and deveined
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • 1 tbsp. butter or olive oil
  • 3 tbsp. hot honey (store bought or homemade)
  • 1 tbsp. soy sauce
  • 1 tbsp. lime juice
  • 1 clove garlic, minced
  • chopped scallions or fresh cilantro for garnish

INSTRUCTIONS

  1. Prepare the shrimp: Pat the shrimp dry with paper towels and season lightly with salt and pepper.
  2. Make the sauce: In a small bowl, whisk together the hot honey, soy sauce, lime juice, and minced garlic. Set aside.
  3. Cook the shrimp: Heat the oil or butter in a large skillet over medium-high heat. Add the shrimp in a single layer, cook in batches if necessary to avoid overcrowding the pan. Sear for about 1 minute on each side until they start to turn pink and opaque.
  4. Combine with sauce: Pour the hot honey mixture into the skillet with the shrimp and reduce the heat to medium. Cook for another minute, flipping the shrimp and stirring occasionally until they are fully coated and the sauce has slightly thickened into a glaze.
  5. Garnish and serve: Remove the skillet from the heat, garnish with chopped scallions, and serve immediately.
