A different way to enjoy spaghetti, this pie is not only delicious but easy to prepare. Baked spaghetti pie can also be prepared and frozen.
Prep time: 20 minutes
Cook time: 30 minutes
Serves: 6
INGREDIENTS
- 8 ounces of spaghetti
- 2 tablespoons butter
- 1/3 cup Parmesan cheese, shredded
- 2 eggs lightly beaten
- 1 pound ground beef
- 1 jar pasta sauce
- 1/2 cup chopped onion
- 1 cup Ricotta cheese, shredded
- 1/2 cup Mozzarella cheese, shredded
DIRECTIONS
- Preheat oven to 350 F
- Brown ground beef in a large skillet, breaking it up as it browns. Add the chopped onion and cook until the onions are soft.
- Stir in the marinara sauce.
- Cook and drain the spaghetti to al dente, and allow it to cool slightly.
- Stir in the butter, Parmesan cheese, and eggs while the spaghetti is warm. Form spaghetti mixture into a crust at the bottom of a greased deep dish pie plate.
- Spread the Ricotta cheese over the spaghetti.
- Pour the beef mixture over the Ricotta cheese.
- Bake for 20-25 minutes.
- Spread the Mozzarella cheese on top and bake for five minutes until the cheese is melted.
- Let the spaghetti pie set for 10 minutes, then slice and serve.
note: I used Italian-style shredded cheese for the top as I had that. The Mozzarella will give a thicker covering for the top.
