A different way to enjoy spaghetti, this pie is not only delicious but easy to prepare. Baked spaghetti pie can also be prepared and frozen.

Cook time: 30 minutes

Serves: 6

INGREDIENTS

  • 8 ounces of spaghetti
  • 2 tablespoons butter
  • 1/3 cup Parmesan cheese, shredded
  • 2 eggs lightly beaten
  • 1 pound ground beef
  • 1 jar pasta sauce
  • 1/2 cup chopped onion
  • 1 cup Ricotta cheese, shredded
  • 1/2 cup Mozzarella cheese, shredded

DIRECTIONS

  1. Preheat oven to 350 F
  2. Brown ground beef in a large skillet, breaking it up as it browns. Add the chopped onion and cook until the onions are soft.
  3. Stir in the marinara sauce.
  4. Cook and drain the spaghetti to al dente, and allow it to cool slightly.
  5. Stir in the butter, Parmesan cheese, and eggs while the spaghetti is warm. Form spaghetti mixture into a crust at the bottom of a greased deep dish pie plate.
  6. Spread the Ricotta cheese over the spaghetti.
  7. Pour the beef mixture over the Ricotta cheese.
  8. Bake for 20-25 minutes.
  9. Spread the Mozzarella cheese on top and bake for five minutes until the cheese is melted.
  10. Let the spaghetti pie set for 10 minutes, then slice and serve.

note: I used Italian-style shredded cheese for the top as I had that. The Mozzarella will give a thicker covering for the top.
