Most people overcook steak to the point it gets tough. This recipe will give you an effortless way to prepare strip steak that produces a juicy tender piece of meat. This recipe requires only a few ingredients.

INGREDIENTS

  • New York strip steak about 1 inch thick
  • Kosher salt and fresh ground pepper to taste
  • Butter 2 pats of butter (to finish the steak)

DIRECTIONS

  1. Preheat your oven to 500 degrees F.

2. Heat a well-seasoned, (meaning well-used), cast iron skillet over high heat until it is smoking hot, 5-7 minutes.

3. Meanwhile. sprinkle both sides of the steak with kosher salt and black pepper.

4. Place the steak in the hot skillet. Cook without moving, for 2 minutes on each side. Cook the fat strip for 30 seconds.

5. Using oven mitts, transfer the skillet to the oven. Roast the steak for 3-4 minutes for med. rare For med roast for 5-6.

6. Place the steak on a plate. Loosely cover it with foil. Allow steak to rest for 5 minutes, then top with butter and serve.
