Sleep is essential to our health. without sufficient sleep our bodies break down. Sleeping less than seven or eight hours per night, especially over time you are susceptible to developing some severe health issues.

Not getting enough sleep promotes weight gain, diabetes, and heart problems. Coronary heart disease and stroke could be a result of sleep deprivation. As well you are likely to get sick more often.

Lack of sleep can increase your risk of breast, colorectal, and prostate cancer. Have you ever awakened groggy after a restless night? Its the result of not sleeping well. Sleep helps us organize and consolidate things we learn during the day. It locks in information and commits it to memory.

When you are tired, it is no surprise your sex drive suffers. Research shows that young men who lost sleep nightly had a decrease in testosterone levels. Sleeping less than 5 hours per night reduces sex hormone levels by 10-15%.

Aside from the obvious things to encourage better sleep such as eating right, getting plenty of exercise, and removing electronic devices from your bedroom, there is one other thing we can do. Try taking everything off, that’s right go commando! Lets examine some reasons why this may help.

  • HELPS INSOMNIA

There are two types of insomnia, one occurs at initiation of sleep. People who suffer with this type have difficulty falling asleep. The second type are people who wake up often during the night and have difficulty returning to sleep. In 2008, Leon C. Lack and associates did a study on the relationship of body temperature and insomnia. Body temperature was found to play a major role in insomnia. If you suffer from insomnia, it may be worth it to shed your pj’s or night clothes as we called them growing up, as well as heavy blankets.

  • Greater Intimacy

This one is pretty much a no brainer. For obvious reasons sleeping nude with your partner may increase the intimacy between you. Also it can release oxytocin, the love hormone. Oxytocin induces anti-stress effects such as lowering your blood pressure and cortisol levels. It also promotes growth and healing.

  • KEEPS YOU COOL

I for one cannot sleep if I am hot, that is one reason I have been sleeping nude for years. Of course that is when I am at home. Your body’s core temperature needs to be cool for you to sleep well. The room temperature needs to be between 60-70 degrees F. Any warmer than that your body may not be able to cool down enough for a peaceful sleep. Ditch the clothes and use a light blanket or just a sheet.

  • Relieves Stress

The stress hormone cortisol may be lowered by sleeping naked. High stress promotes health issues such as high blood pressure, weight gain, and a compromised immune system. During the night cortisol levels drop and rise again to wake you up. Getting enough sleep assures your cortisol levels function as they should. One way to do this is to keep your body cool at night.

  • LOOK AND FEEL YOUNG

A variety of growth and anti-aging hormones, like melatonin, are released during sleep. These hormones function to keep you looking and feeling young. The optimal release of these hormones are encouraged with 7-8 hours of sleep.

In addition to the benefits listed above, sleeping naked allows your skin to breathe so you are less susceptible to rashes and skin break outs. Women may lower the chance of developing a yeast infection as the vajayjay is kept cool and dry.

Will sleeping in the nude work for you? Give it a try and see if it proves to be beneficial.
