This week it was my intention to post something about healthy relationships, however I decided two issues needed to be addressed. One is being aware of your surroundings and your actions when in the general community. Secondly I felt it important to look at ourselves, who are we really ? Perhaps this time of self quarantine is the perfect opportunity for self examination, self reflection, and self love.
If you have kept up with the CDC stats, you are aware the United States has the most documented cases of Covid 19 than any other country. Unfortunately those numbers are not valid as the number of tests available are limited.
This is not to scare you but to help you see this is a real issue that will get worse before it gets better. Our job is to do our part in keeping ourselves and our families safe.
In the past week I had to make a trip to the post office, I observed a young woman there with gloves intact. She rested her hands on the counter then touched her face five times with those same gloves before completing her transaction.
I was in Wally World ( Walmart ), observed a young lady in line a few aisles over. She had on a mask and was wearing gloves. I observed her pull down the mask, rub her nose with a gloved hand and put the mask back into place.
In both these instances, protective gear did no good. On the average a person touches their face 100 times per day. Habits are hard to break but in this case it is life saving that you break habits.
Initially, it was suggested that we only wear gloves and save the masks for healthcare workers and first responders. This week it has been suggested everyone wear masks and gloves. Even homemade masks. If you have sewing skills get on that machine.
Carry several pairs of gloves. If you have to manually open a door change your gloves. After walking around a store, I place my items on the belt, change my gloves before using my bank card, and dispose of them when I reach my vehicle. I sanitize me hands and wash them when I arrive home.
I change and wash my clothing, and shower. I drink lemon water or hot tea. Go back a few posts and review the Power of Lemon and the Super foods. Both of these will assist to boost your immune system. All of this may seem a bit much but its important. Please stay at home unless absolutely necessary that you go out. Containment is the key to beating this virus.
Also talk to your children about staying safe and let them express their feelings.
Now that you have all this time at home, it would be a perfect time to really delve into yourself on a Spiritual level and explore who you are. Not an easy task for anyone, self examination is a rabbit hole we are reluctant to go down.
Think about who you are, what do you really want and need in your life, what is your purpose on this earth, in this space and time ? There are many guided meditations on You Tube. Journaling is another effective tool of self expression. It doesn’t have to be full sentences. Just thoughts and words to release what is bound within you.
We will survive this with common sense and being cognizant of our behavior. Its a shame but now more than ever I am on a mission to speak with all of my family. Not just messaging on FB and Instagram.
Stay connected with your family and friends.
Be grateful every day for your life, health and those that love you.
Stay Woke !
Peace and Blessings
