I was supposed to start posting on janzplace2.blog, but a glitch occurred. Hopefully, I can get it straightened out by Thursday. Kissing someone you love can make you feel like you’re on “Cloud 9”. But, because of the exchange of saliva, it can cause diseases. The top five are Mononucleosis, Herpes Simplex, Cytomegalovirus, Streptococcus, and Meningitis. I will share others as well.

Infectious Mononucleosis (Mono) is known as the kissing disease. The Epstein-Barr virus causes it. Symptoms of mono include severe fatigue, fever, sore throat, and swollen lymph glands.

Herpes Simplex (HSV-1) virus, commonly called cold sores or fever blisters, causes small, painful blisters around the mouth.

Cytomegalovirus (CMV) is a member of the herpes family and is spread through saliva. The symptoms are like having a mild case of the flu. People with weakened immune symptoms also feel extreme fatigue.

Streptococcus (Strep throat) is a bacterial infection is transmitted through saliva. Infections like Strep A cause a sore throat.

Meningitis (Viral or Bacterial) is spread through saliva. It can lead to inflammation of the membranes that surround the brain and spinal cord.

Warts (Human Papilloma Virus (HPV)) are more likely to spread if there is a break in the skin. Warts in the mouth are rare, and it would take a lot of contact for transmission.

Respiratory viruses, such as a cold, flu, and mumps, are spread by droplets. You don’t have to kiss to contract these. You may want to stay away from kissing until your partner is over a cold or flu.

Syphilis, for the most part, is transmitted by sex. But kissing can spread it too. Syphilis causes round, open sores in the mouth.

Although there are risks with kissing, there are health benefits too. Kissing reduces stress, helps you to feel emotionally bonded, and boosts your metabolism.

Most kisses won’t cause the disease mentioned above. However, take some precautions. Avoid kissing someone if they are sick. Don’t kiss anyone with a cold sore, wart, or ulcer in or around their mouth.

Don’t give up kissing, enjoy that boost of hormones that takes you to cloud nine.

Until Next Time

Peace, Love, and Blessings ❤️
